WWE Breaking Point set to replace after a decade of Unforgiven

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) produced Breaking Point, an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view event, which will make its debut feature on September 13, 2009 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The name of the event was voted by fans via WWE’s official website.

WWE Breaking Point will feature talent wrestling starts from the Raw, Smack Down, and ECW. Breaking Point was chosen over Submission Sunday, Total Submission, and Submit and Quit.

The new pay per view event will be replacing Unforgiven, the annual WWE event that had started off in September 1999. The top matches on the new pay per view are expected to be submission matches. Breaking Point will feature numerous professional wrestling matches contested under submission rules, involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that will be played out on Raw, Friday Night Smack Down, ECW on Syfy and WWE Superstars. A star cast of WWE wrestlers will take each other on as hero vs villain.

Breaking Point Intercontinental Title Match:

• Rey Mysterio vs Dolph Ziggler (Rey was suspended so this match will be changed)

Breaking Point WWE Unified Tag Team Tile Match:

• Chris Jericho & Big Show vs MVP & Mark Henry

World Title Submission Match:

• CM Punk vs The Undertaker

WWE Title I Quit Match:

• Randy Orton vs John Cena

Until last year, Unforgiven was an annual professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment, which had been held in September since the 1999 edition. It originally started out as In Your House pay-per-view event in April and featured the infamous Inferno match between The Undertaker and Kane. From 2003 to 2006, the events were exclusive to the Raw brand. In 2009, it was announced that an event called Breaking Point will replace Unforgiven. It is not known yet if Breaking Point will be an entirely new event or if it will carry the same lineage and legacy of Unforgiven.
